Evelyn Drees

Mrs. Evelyn M. Drees , 90, of La Porte, Indiana, died Saturday November 7, 2009 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte. She was born November 13, 1918 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ernst Doehling and Lillian Klug Doehling, living in the LaPorte area for six years, coming from Park Ridge, Illinois. Evelyn was a bookkeeper for forty-four years, retiring in 1980. She was a member to Grace Lutheran Church in Chicago prior to moving to LaPorte Bethany Lutheran Church of LaPorte. Evelyn was as excellent seamtress and loved to cook. She was very social with people and enjoyed life. On November 2, 1946, in Chicago, IL, she married Anthony J. Drees who preceded her in death January 18, 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Lyn Bruce Batzer of La Porte, IN; two grandchildren Scott Batzer of Chicago, IL, Kristen Batzer of Melbourne, Australia. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. A private service will held at a later date.
