Mrs. Ethel Tibbs, 62, of 711 Park Street, LaPorte, Indiana passed away September 4, 2004 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. She had lived in the LaPorte area for the past forty years coming from Salyersville, Kentucky. Born September 14, 1940 in Salyersville Kentucky to Noah and Maxine Rice Tibbs. On March 1, 1969 in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, she married James Tibbs who survives. She was a housewife and member of New Hope Baptist Church of LaPorte. Surviving are three daughters; Barbara Earl Stacy and Frances Paul Qualls and Virginia Raven all of LaPorte, Indiana, one brother; Charley Bailey of Kentucky, four sisters; Betty Williams and Thelma Cole both of Kentucky, Moudie Risner of Michigan and Mabel Thorp of LaPorte, Indiana, and six grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers and one sister. A funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday September 8, 2004 at Haverstock Funeral Home with Pastor Monroe Jones officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. and Wednesday 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Crek, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
