Esther Sult

Esther was born at home in Knox, Indiana on January 23, 1931, the youngest of ten children, to Mathias Estok and Susanna Rotz Estok. On October 16, 1948, she married Leslie Paul VanAsdall and they had two children, Paulette and David VanAsdall. She became a widow on October 29, 1965. On November 25, 1967, she married Ronald Sult and they moved to LaPorte in 1968. In April 1985, they moved to their retirement home at Lake James near Angola, Indiana, where they lived until March 2005, when they returned to LaPorte to live at Brentwood Assisted Living Community. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Sult of LaPorte, IN; her two children, Paulette James Ganschow of Michigan City, IN. and David Cindy VanAsdall of LaPorte, IN.; six grandchildren, Julia Kossnar of Metairie, Louisiana, Amy Alejandra Kossnar of Brookline, Massachusetts, Chris Kossnar of Michigan City, Indiana, Michael Korei VanAsdall of Fish Lake, Indiana, Angela Bielawski of Chicago, Illinois and Vicky Joerg Wichlas of LaPorte, Indiana; two great-grandsons, Austin VanAsdall of LaPorte, Indiana and Ian Soya of Chicago, Illinois; one brother, Eugene Ruby Estok of Toledo, Ohio; thirty five nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mathias and Susanna Estok; her first husband, Paul VanAsdall; six sisters, Elizabeth Vernon Shepherd, Ella Raymond Stephenson, Marcella Floyd Bickel, Lena William Arnold, Irma Henry Coughlin and Mary Jane Albert DeCamp; two brothers, Mathias Gladys Estok and Leonard Evelyn Estok; her step-daughter, Trudy Gene Comer and her precious grandson, Ryan David VanAsdall. Esther was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and she was always there to lead a helping hand whenever it was needed. She always went the extra mile for her loved ones and she will be greatly missed. She was dearly loved. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave. LaPorte, IN, where the family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, July 29, 2005. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home at 10:30 AM Saturday, July 30, 2005. Rev. Mark Harris will be officiating.
