Esther Baidinger Moon, 96, formerly of Cincinnati Ohio, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 in La orte, Indiana.
She was born February 26, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Sam and Rose (Karel) Baidinger.
On October 28, 1944, Esther married Benjamin Moon, who preceded her in death. Once Ben was transferred from Chicago to Cincinnati, Ohio, they settled first in Mariemont, making many lifetime friends and then spent 49 years living in an old house with a barn in Indian Hill.
Esther had been very athletic in her youth, winning medals in speed skating and as captain of her basketball team. As an adult, she skied in America and France, and made many friends on the tennis court. Upon retirement, she and Ben traveled internationally to such places as Russia, Austria, and China. Esther never lost her inner child and continued to have a zest for life well into her 90s.
She is survived by her two sons; Daniel (Caryl) Moon of Long Beach, IN, Brian (Susi) Moon of Ft. Collins, CO, two daughters; Tara Laurie Moon of Milford, OH, Suzy Moon of Boston, MA; five grandchildren, Ross Moon, Ariel Moon, Ben Applegate, Chris (Ame) Moon, Stefan Moon; two great‑grandchildren, Madison and Ethan.
In addition to her husband, Esther was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Harry Baidinger, and sister, Rosemary Berlak.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. The family has selected cremation.
Memorial donations in her honor may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
