Esther Elkins

Mrs. Esther A. Elkins, 81, of 52591 St. Rd. 13 Middlebury, Indiana, Formerly of LaPorte, Indiana, died Sunday, March 20, 2005 at 4:35 AM at her residence. She was born May 3, 1923 in LaPorte, Indiana, to James and Lena Rosenbaum Mandeville, who has proceeded. Also preceded in death is a daughter, Mrs. Paula Maitland, one granddaughter, and one grandson, and a brother, Mr. James Mandeville. Mrs. Elkins was a life long resident of LaPorte, until a resent move to Middlebury, Indiana. Mrs. Elkins worked for LaPorte Hospital as a Laundry Worker, for 13 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Tracy, Indiana. She was an avid cubs fan and enjoyed reading, plants and flowers. She was a 1942 graduate of Hanna High School. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Sarah James McIntosh of Kingsford Heights, IN, Mrs. Barbara McCreary of Middlebury, IN, three sons, Mr. James Judy Elkins of Milton, FL, Mr. Robert Susie Elkins of LaPorte, IN, Mr. Donald Loretta Elkins, a sister, Mrs. Alice Wilhelm of Waterman, IL. Mrs. Elkins has 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be a Private Family Service held on Wednesday, with Rev. John Povolka. There will be no visitation.
