Ervin Schroeder

Ervin L. Schroeder May 25, 1928-October 15, 2017 Mr. Ervin L. Schroeder, 89, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away Sunday October 15, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born May 25, 1928 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Martin Schroeder and Gertrude (Nebelung) Schroeder. Ervin started working at Allis Chalmers Corp. before he opened Schroeder's Garage in Rolling Prairie. He was a past member of the Trustee Advisory Board for Kankakee Twp. and of the Rolling Prairie Fire Department. He was currently President of the Rolling Prairie Cemetery Association, he was a veteran of the US Army and Ervin was baptized in the St. John Lutheran Church. On August 2, 1969, in Rolling Prairie, IN, he married Marguerite (Harris) Schroeder who survives. He is also survived by his three daughters, Terri Jalbert, Pamela Hanson, and Tammi Huskey; seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; brother, Milton Schroeder; sister, Dorothy Wolfe, and many nieces and nephews. Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Martin, Harold, Robert, Charles, Howard and Wesley. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, October 19, 2017, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm and on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 9:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday October 20, 2017 at 10:00 am with Pastor John Marron officiating. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rolling Prairie Cemetery Association.
