Mr. Ernest H. Schmidt, II, age 84, of 8212 W. CR 125 S., La Porte, Ind., died 4:14 PM Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. He was born September 7, 1921 in New Durham Twp. LaPorte Co. Ind. to the late Hulda Schlack Schmidt and the late Ernest Henry Schmidt, and has lived in the LaPorte area all of his life. Mr. Schmidt was a carpenter with Carpenters Union Local 1485 and was a co-owner of M.R.S. Construction Co. He was a Veteran of the US Army during W.W.II Life member of Hubner-Swanson VFW Post #1130, 1939 Graduate of the Westville High School, and was Baptized and Confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Otis, IN. On January 30, 1943 in West Palm Beach, Florida he married Enid Kruger who survives. He is also survived by One Daughter, Mrs. Lucinda K. Bruce Agan of Carmel, Ind.; Two Sons, Mr. Ernest H. Rita Schmidt, III of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Thomas W. Karla Schmidt of Wabash, Ind.; Seven Grandchildren, Wes, Marcie, Trent, Kelly, Ashley, Mike, Andy; Two Brothers, Mr. Roy Schmidt of La Porte, Ind., and Mr. Russell Schmidt of La Porte, Ind. He is preceded in death by his parents and Two Brothers, Raymond Schmidt and Edward Schmidt. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday, December 31, 2005. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 12:00 PM Noon Saturday, December 31, 2005, Mr. Roy McNeal, Celebrant, officiating. Interment will be at Pinhook Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.
