Ernest Cross

Mr. Ernest W. Cross, Jr., age 60, of Fish Lake Walkerton, Ind., died Friday, December 26, 2008, at his home in Fish Lake Walkerton, Ind. He was born September 17, 1948 in Elkhorn, IA to the late Edward Steen and the late Elna Steen. Ernest lived in this area most of his life, coming from Iowa. Mr. Cross was employed by Silgan Containers of La Porte for thirty-two years and retired in 2006. He was a veteran of the United States Navy of the Vietnam Era. He was a member H.O.G. Harley owners group. He loved riding his Harley. Ernest was an avid fisherman. He loved his family and friends and was loved by everyone he met. On January 24, 2000 in Jamaica, he married Jackalee Rensberger, who survives. He is also survived by his; two Daughters, Janna Cross of South Bend, Ind., Kathy Love of La Porte, Ind; One Son; Eric Cross of South Bend, Ind; Three Grandchildren; One Sister, Vada England of Terry Town, N.Y.; One Niece, Trisha Calvert. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, December 29, 2008.
