Eric W. Wallen, 24, of 8335-4 Gold Coast Dr., San Diego, California passed away, Sunday, November 7, 2004 in Brawley, California. He was born, March 3, 1980 in LaPorte, Indiana to Roxana Kahn Wallen Murray and Gregory Wallen, who survive. Eric, graduated from New Prairie High School in 1998 and graduated from Pensacola Jr. College in Pensacola, Florida. He also attended non-commissioned officer?s school at Quantico, Virginia. Eric was promoted to Staff Sergeant and was a Personal Administrative Chief with the All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron #121 of the United States Marine Corps. He received two Marine Good Conduct Medals, two Navy & Marine Corps. Achievement conduct medals, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and also, received numerous letters of commendation & recognition. He has served the Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Pensacola Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida and Miramar Naval /Marine Corps Air Station, San Diego, California. He served in Kuwait & Iraq war zones in 2003. Eric was an avid Notre Dame Football fan, loved classic cars and was restoring his 1966 Ford Mustang. He also belonged to a Ford Truck Club. A chocolate Labrador retriever, named Haley, was his constant companion. On August 25, 2001 in Pensacola, Florida, he married Riannon Norris of San Diego, California, who survives. Also surviving is his sister; Angela Wallen of Indianapolis, Indiana; paternal grandmother, Betty Wallen of Hamlet, Indiana; maternal grandmother, Elizza Kahn of Michigan City, Indiana; paternal aunt, Cindy Ron Eggert of LaPorte, Indiana; maternal uncles, Roger Kahn of Michigan City, Indiana, Michael Frazekas of Michigan City, Indiana, Gary Kay Kahn of Michigan City, Indiana, Alfred Kim Kahn of LaPorte, Indiana, step-grandmother, Yvonne Murray of Westville, step-brother, Daniel Murray of LaPorte, Indiana, and two step-sisters, Angela and Patricia Murray of LaPorte, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather; William Wallen, maternal grandfather; Norman Kahn, maternal great-grandmother; Lisbet Nelson The funeral will be 2:30 PM Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Haverstock Funeral Home with Rev. Ransom Ebersole, officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM ? 8:00 PM, Friday, November 12, 2004 at the Haverstock Funeral Home and from 9:00 AM Saturday, until time of the service. Burial will be in the Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, Indiana with a full military honors.
