Enid Schmidt

Mrs. Enid L. Schmidt, age 85, of LaPorte, Ind., died 9:15 AM Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at LaPorte Hospital in LaPorte, Ind. She was born January 28, 1923 in La Porte, Ind. to the late Elwood Kruger and the late Ethel McGarity Kruger. She has been a life long resident of the La Porte area. Mrs. Schmidt a homemaker. She was a member of LaPorte V.F.W. Post #1130 Ladies Auxiliary, Home Economic Club. She was a devoted wife, caring mother and grandmother. She enjoyed living in the country and the splendor of nature. She enjoyed sewing, baking, knitting, embroidery and loved all forms of music. On January 30, 1943 in West Palm Beach, Florida she married Ernest H. Schmidt II who preceded in death December 27, 2005. She is survived by her Two Sons, Mr. Ernest Rita Schmidt, III of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Thomas Karla Schmidt of Wabash, Ind.; Seven grandchildren, Wes Schmidt, Marcie Schmidt, Trent Schmidt, Kelly VanMeter, Michael VanMeter, Andrew VanMeter, Ashley Agan; Two Sisters, Mrs. Martha L. Brady of La Porte, Ind., and Mrs. Eunice L. Stickland of Champaign, Ill. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Three Sisters and Three Brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday, February 23, 2008. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 23, 2008 , with Funeral Celebrant Roy McNeal officiating.
