Emily Malec

Mrs. Emily A. Malec, 79, of 2872 S. 350 E. LaPorte, Indiana, died 6:15 AM Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN. She was born September 19, 1926 in Rolling Prairie, IN. to the late Fredrick Schroff and the late Emily Stayback Schroff. She has lived in the LaPorte area for most of her life. Emily worked at Athletic Shoe factory in LaPorte, IN. as a seamtress, and Boris Smolers Clothing Mfg., H D Lee Co. in South Bend, IN., Kingsley Furniture and was an Elderly Home Care Provider. She was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fish Lake, IN, former President and member of the Rosary Society of St. Anthony Padua Catholic Church, former 4-H Group Leader, she enjoyed making arts and crafts, loved to bake wedding and all occasion cakes. On January 22, 1949 in LaPorte, Indiana she married, Walter J. Malec, who survives, also surviving are two sons; Daniel Catherine Malec of LaPorte, IN., Stephen Pamela Malec of South Bend, IN.; one daughter, Annette Gilbert of Denver, CO.; two sisters, Virginia Burek of LaPorte, IN, Frances Marvin Briggs of South Bend, IN.; four grandchildren, Andrew D. Malec, Kelley Malec, Natlie Malec, Anthony Malec. She was preceded by her parents, and two brothers; James Schroff and Frederick Schroff, Jr. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, November 13, 2005 and 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM Monday, November 14, 2005 at Haverstock Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at St. Anthony Catholic Church of Fish Lake, IN. at 10:00 AM Monday, November 14, 2005. Father Michael Heimer will be officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in LaPorte, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rosary Society of St. Anthony?s Catholic Church of Fish Lake, 7732 E. St. Rd 4, Fish Lake, IN.
