Eloise L. Butler, Bloomington, passed away Friday Jan. 1, 2010. Eloise was born July 10, 1924, in Galien, Mich., to Nelson and Winnie Ames. At an early age, she moved with her family to La Porte. She graduated from nursing school as a registered nurse in 1946 and married Raymond Butler on May 4, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1995 after 49 years of marriage. Eloise was a registered nurse for 27 years at the Indiana University Student Health Center Inpatient Care Unit, retiring in 1982 due to a disability. She was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Bloomington since 1957. She is survived by her children: a son, David Butler, and his wife Beverly, Greenwood, Ind., a son, Douglas Butler, and daughter, Evelyn Butler, both of Bloomington; her grandchildren, Bradley Butler and his wife, Michelle, Avon, Ind., William Butler and his wife, Christine, Pleasanton, Calif., Emily Butler, Baltimore, Md., and great-grandchildren, Maci, Luke, Noah and Sam Butler. Also surviving are brothers, Albert Ames and Lester Ames and his wife Pat; sisters-in-law, Delores Ward, Helen Pease, Bonnie Ames and Hope Harris and her husband Warren, and brothers-in-law, Walter Butler and his wife Nancy and Dewayne Butler and his wife Sharon. Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond, her mother and father in law, brother, Dale Ames, brother in law, Albert Butler, and sister and brother-in-law, Lillie and Berwyn Good. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old Indiana 37, Bloomington. The funeral is at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte.
