Elmer Sult

Elmer R. Sult May 25, 1915-May 23, 2016 Elmer R. Sult passed away on May 23, 2016 two days short of his 101st birthday in Merritt Island, Florida with his loving family by his side. He was born May 25, 1915 in Egeland, North Dakota. At age 9, he moved to NW Indiana where he graduated from Union Township High School. On October 31, 1936 Elmer married Alice Loring who preceded him in death in 2011. Elmer is survived by his children, Lynn (Andrew) Serafin and Neil (Sue) Sult. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons. His son, Terry (Maribel) Sult preceded him in death. Elmer and his brother-in-law started S and W Electric in 1950. Elmer sold S and W in 1989 when he retired and became a snowbird in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Elmer was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was honored with a Paul Harris Fellowship for his dedication and years of service in the LaPorte Rotary Club. At age 96, Elmer became a full time Florida resident, moving to Sonata Independent Living in Melbourne, FL. Elmer claimed that living at Sonata was like being on a cruise without ever having to leave port. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Avenue LaPorte, IN with Pastor Chuck Epperly officiating. Interment to follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
