Elma Freeland

Mrs. Elma Bernice Vermilyer Freeland, age 86, of Peoria, Ill., died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Bel-Wood Nursing Home in Peoria, Ill. She was born Auguest 9, 1919 in LaPorte, IN, to Edward Vermilyer and Nancy Cannan Vermilyer, who has preceded. Also preceded is her Husband, Raymond Freeland, two sisters, Hattie Boyce, Loretta Vermilyer, two brothers, Ernest Vermilyer, Charles Vermilyer, Great-Grandson, Timothy Heinz. Mrs. Freeland lived all her life in the LaPorte area, moving to Peoria, IL, Two years ago. On November 20, 1937 in Michigan City, IN, she was married to Raymond Freeland, who preceded on February 24, 1996. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. Surviving is one Daughter, Miss Janice Vermilyer Freeland of Peoria, Illinois, One Son, Mr. Daniel Freeland of Roanoke, Va, Three Sisters, Mrs. Bessie Reeder of LaPorte, Ind, Mrs. Florence Swanson of Michigan City, Ind, Mrs. Madge Capshaw of Ohio, Mrs. Freeland has Four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 9, 2006 and Wedenday May 10, 2006 from 9:00 AM until time of service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 10, 2006 , with Rev. Richard N. Henry, Jr. officiating, Interment will be at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Michigan City, Ind.
