Elizabeth Straub

Elizabeth M. "Betty" Straub, 92, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away, Wednesday October 6, 2010 at LaPorte Hospital. She was born January 17, 1918 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of R. Paul Bowman and Annie Carpenter Bowman. Betty worked and retired as a secretary for Modine Mfg, she also worked for Deluxe Products and the Coleman Co. She was a member of the First Christian Church of LaPorte and the Sarah Circle of the church. Betty enjoyed camping, nature, the outdoors and crafting. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Betty enjoyed life. On April 27, 1956, in LaPorte, IN, she married Joseph C. Straub who preceded her in death February 14, 1996. She is survived by her three daughters - Cherie Fuller of La Porte, IN, Penny Steve Jedrysek of La Porte, IN, Mary Jo Larry Zembala of North Judson, IN; one son - Daniel Karen Earl of La Porte, IN; step-daughter - Sandra Bill Burkhart of La Porte, IN; step-son - John H. Linda Straub of La Porte, IN; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister - Kathryn Carl Thode of New Carlisle, IN, and two brothers, Donald Shirley Bowman of LaPorte, IN and Phillip Beverly Bowman of St. Petersburg, FL. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Robert Bowman. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm & Monday, October 11, 2010 from 10:00 am, until time of services. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Monday October 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Everett Shattuck officiating. Cremation will take place. Burial of ashes will be held at the Posey Chapel Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana. at a later date.
