Elizabeth "Alice" M. Goethals May 10, 1930-February 25, 2015 Mrs. Elizabeth "Alice" M. Goethals, 84, of La Porte, Indiana, died Wednesday February 25, 2015 at Hamilton Communities, Inc. in New Carlisle, IN. She was born May 10, 1930 in Mill Creek, Indiana, the daughter of Francis Doms and Bertha (Antoni) Doms. Alice was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of LaPorte. Faith and family were the most important things in her life. She loved all children and her job as a cook at the St Joseph Catholic School,. Alice graduated from Mill Creek High School, there she was a cheer-leader. Alice was a very sociable person. She enjoyed polka dancing, gardening, and cooking. She was a Notre Dame Women's Basketball fan. On June 25, 1955, in LaPorte, IN, she married Robert Goethals, who survives. She is also survived by her three sons, Charles (Brenda) Goethals of Elkhart, IN, Richard (Donna) Goethals of Valparaiso, IN, Robert (Shelly) Goethals of New Carlisle, IN; two daughters, Judy (Erv) Jourdan of Granger, IN, Marialice (Terry) Sells of Schoolcraft, MI; six grandchildren, Ryan, Jakob, Jonathan, Samantha, Grant, and Camille; two brothers, Victor (Leona) Doms of New Carlisle, IN, Joseph Doms of Mill Creek, IN; sister-in-law, Shirley Doms of Mill Creek, IN; several nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Vantine, and a twin-brother, Camiel Doms. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Friday, February 27, 2015, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Saturday, February 28, 2015, from 9:00 am to 9:45 am. A Rosary service will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Friday, February 27, 2014. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Saturday February 28, 2015 at 10:00 am with Father Eduardo Malagon, officiating.
