Elizabeth H. Garnett May 3, 1909-August 6, 2009 Mrs. Elizabeth "Bess" H. Garnett, 100, of Walkerton, Indiana, died Thursday August 6, 2009 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte, IN. She was born May 3, 1909 in Kent, England, the daughter of Sidney A. Durling and Ada Reed Durling. She was the owner and operator of the Channel Cafe for thirty-years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of American Legion Post #400 Auxilliary. On October 25, 1957, in Niles, MI, she married Richard H. Garnett, who preceded in death April 28, 1996. She is survived by her sister, Grace Hogge of LaPorte, IN; two great nieces, Grace Seibert of LaPorte, IN., Samantha Postelmans of LaPorte, IN.; one great-nephew, Gayle Smith of LaPorte, IN.; two great-great nieces, Michelle Workman of Rolling Prairie, IN., Sydney Smith of LaPorte, IN.; five great-great nephews, Thomas Summerfield of LaPorte, IN., Andrew Smith of LaPorte, IN., Rylee Postelmans of LaPorte, IN., Gage Smith of LaPorte, IN, Page Smith of LaPorte, IN; one great-great-great nephew, Mason Workman and two great-great-great nieces, Jorden Workman and Hailee Workman. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Albert S. Durling, a niece, Donna Mae Smith, and a brother-in-law Hugh T. Hogge. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Sunday, August 09, 2009 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Sunday August 9, 2009 at 3:00 PM with Father Ian Williams officiating. Cremation will take place.
