Eliza Newland

Mrs. Eliza A. Newland, 93, of 3856 E. Salem Dr., LaPorte, Indiana passed away Sunday April 25, 2004 at the LaPorte Hospital. She had lived in the LaPorte area most of her life. On August 17, 1910 she was born in Berne, Indiana to Enos and Maude E. Kemper Ford, who preceded. She married Orville Newland on June 14, 1929 in Marshall County, who preceded her in death on December 28, 1991. Mrs. Newland was a homemaker and a member of Salem Chapel United Methodist church. She also enjoyed her grandchildren, fishing, sewing, cooking and traveling. Mrs. Newland is survived by three daughters; Betty Werner of Mesa, AZ, Shirley Charles Fritzen of LaPorte, Judy David Miller of LaPorte, two sons; Damon Newland of West Mufflin, Pennsylvania, Bobby Mary Newland of Greenville, North Carolina, three sisters; Mae Christianson of Niles, Michigan, Dorothy Thornburg of Walkerton, Indiana, Arlene Clark of Bowie, Maryland. Also seventeen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. Services will be Thursday April 29, 2004 at the Haverstock Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Harris officiating. Friends may call Wednesday at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. and Thursday 8a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Mill Creek, Indiana.
