Mrs. Eleanor Defnet, 88, of Sun City, Arizona, died Wednesday October 28, 2009 at Hospice of Arizona - Del Web Inpatient Unit in Sweetwater, AZ., formerly of Grovertown, IN. moving to Phoenix, AZ in 1943. She was born April 20, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Christian C. Theis and Hattie C. Schipplock Theis. Eleanor was a registered nurse, she enjoyed gardening, and taking care of grapefruit and orange trees also enjoyed feeding birds and keeping animals healthy and being outdoors. Eleanor enjoyed her job as a nurse. In January 1, 1945 she married Clinton "Bud" Tweedy who preceded her in death September of 1999 and remarried Al Defnet in 1971, who preceded her in death in May of 1978. She is survived by her son, Christ Karen Tweedy of Columbia, SC; grandaughter, Ellen Tweedy of Charotte, NC; three nieces Carolyn Hunt of Mill Creek, IN, Marolyn Klockow of South Bend, IN, Kathy Sue Matz of LaPorte, IN; two cousins, Robert Wolfe of Knox, IN, Marian Schipplock of South Bend, IN. and sister-in-law, Catherine Theis of LaPorte, IN. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, 1st and 2nd husband; sister, Bernice Hunt and brother, Lester Theis. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends on Friday, November 6, 2009 from 10:00 am, until time of services. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday November 6, 2009 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Ronald Devenport officiating.
