Elaine Ruth Heidel January 28, 1925-May 1, 2019 Elaine Ruth Heidel, 94, of La Porte, IN, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Golden Living Center - Fountainview Terrace in La Porte, Indiana. She was born January 28, 1925 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of William A. Hilgendorf and Louise (Pflugshaupt) Hilgendorf. Elaine was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Porte where she served on several committees, the Thrift Shop, Alter Guild, Ladies Aid as well as volunteering for Lutheran Braille workers and mission projects. Next to her family, she enjoyed sewing, painting, ceramics, gardening and bowling. On June 2, 1946, in La Porte, Indiana, she married Lawrence Heidel who preceded in death February 19, 2006. She is survived by her son, Rodney (Ellen) Heidel of LaPorte, IN; three daughters, Sharon (Dale) Coyle of Mooresville, IN, Janice (Thomas) Chambers of La Porte, IN, Elyse Heidel of LaPorte, IN; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Ronald Hilgendorf of Portland, OR; many nieces and nephews. Elaine was preceded in death by both her parents; sister, Vi Krentz; great-granddaughter, Jessica Coyle. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday May 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
