Edward L. Kessler May 10, 1936-May 7, 2015 Mr. Edward L. Kessler, 78, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday May 7, 2015 at his home. He was born May 10, 1936 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Howard Kessler and Amelia (Felton) Kessler. Edward worked 30 years for the Ford Motor Co., retiring in 1991. He attended the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hamlet, IN, member of the LaPorte Moose Lodge #492, and a Veteran of the US Army, during Viet Nam. He enjoyed raising pigs, hunting, fishing, traveling to Las Vegas and going gambling on the casino boat. On August 1, 2008, in Las Vegas, NV, he married Sandra (Hufstedler) Kessler who survives. He is also survived by his two sisters, Mary (John) Cuson of Mill Creek, IN, and Shirley Peckham of La Porte, IN; four nieces, and eight nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Howard Kessler, three sisters, Elsie Brown, Dorothy Cook, and Ruth Kessler. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. A Graveside Service will be held at Tracy Cemetery, Wednesday May 13, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor JoEllyn Chadwick officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the LaPorte Honor Guard. Burial of Ashes will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the LaPorte Moose Lodge #492.
