Edward Bartoszek, 77, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Tuesday January 11, 2022 at home, surrounded by his family.
He was born April 2, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Edward and Wanda (Krasowski) Bartoszek.
On June 28, 1980 in Michigan City, IN, Edward married Barbara Hale, who survives. He is also survived by daughters, Andrea Timm of Michigan City, Jody (Richard) Wojtas of South Bend; brothers, Charles Bartoszek of La Porte, Greg (Jeannie) Bartoszek of California; sisters, Darlene (Don) Hart of Las Vegas, Marsha (Scott) Browning of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Sadie and Jesse Timm, Rebecca Lynn Daley, Drew and Dawson Stacy, Diella Parker; 2 great-grandchildren, Journey and Emma Rainn.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Joseph and his grandchild, Ella Bess Stacy.
Edward attended Sacred Heart church and school, where he was an altar boy, before graduating from La Porte High School. He attended Indiana University and joined the United States Army Reserve, serving for 6 years. Edward went to work for Allis Chalmers, where he met his wife, then sold insurance for many years. He began driving trucks and worked for several trucking companies. Over his life, Edward enjoyed following the stock market, was an avid history buff, was a big reader, finishing 3 books the week before he died, and loved sports, especially the Bears and the Cubs. Edward had a soft spot in his heart for children and all animals and he was devoted to his family, God and church, most recently attending South Center United Baptist Church La Porte County on US Highway 6., IN.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN, where the family will receive friends for a visitation Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. A service will follow at 2:00, with Pastor Ernie Melton, South Center United Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation will take place.
Memorial contributions may be made in Edward’s name to the La Porte County or St Joseph County Right To Life.
