Mrs. Edna M. Ropace, 94, of La Porte, Indiana, died Saturday July 25, 2009 at Settlers House in La Porte, IN. She was born October 19, 1914 in Peru, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph Haun and Emily Marie Hoffman Haun. Edna worked as a Key Punch Operator for Meyer Materials for 9 years and retired in 1977. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Edna loved to knit and crochet; she was a fantastic quilter and loved to play cards. On June 29, 1933, in Chicago, IL, she married Ludwig "Lou" Ropace who preceded in death July 24, 1995. She is survived by her two daughters Penny Lower of La Porte, IN, Barbara Ann Robert Gonyo of Mount Prospect, IL; 2 sisters Frances Hardt of IL, Dorothea Krause of Bensenville, IL; 6 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Edna was preceded in death by her 3 sisters, Evelyn Levendoski, Barbara Pishotta, Bertha Zyks, 1 brother, Harry Wendell, and a son-in-law, David Lower. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. Graveside services will be held at, 11:00 AM Tuesday July 28, 2009 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Mausoleums in Arlington Heights, IL with Rev. Larry Owens officiating. Interment will follow.
