Edna Evans

Edna L. Evans, age 77, of 3428 Jefferson, Kingsford Heights, Ind., died Monday, January 23, 2006, at 6:25 PM at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. She was born January 7, 1929 in Jackson, Miss. to late Martin Jones and the late LouElla Thomas Jones. She has lived in the Kingsford Heights area for 41 years, coming from Jackson, MIss. Mrs. Evans was employed by American Home Foods for 17 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Kingsford Heights, Ladies Aux. of the church. She was baptized in Big Creek Church in Raymond, Miss. On January 15, 1949 in Jackson Miss. she married George Evans Sr., who preceded in death January 29, 1989. She is survived by her One Daughter, Mrs. Paulette Stephens of Valparaiso, Ind.; Six Sons, Mr. Reginald Evans of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Robert Evans of La Porte, Ind., Mr. George Evans of South Bend, Ind., Mr. Stanly Evans of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Henry Evans of Michigan City, Ind., Mr. Russell Evans of Kingsford Heights, Ind.; One Sister, Mrs. Marguaritte Love of Jackson, Miss.; Fifteen grandchildren; and Nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and Two Sisters Helen Marie Hill and Hester Mae Watkins. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church in Kingsford Heights. IN. from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, January 27, 2006. Funeral service will be at Faith Baptist Church at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 28, 2006, Rev. John Talley officiating.
