Edith Warkentien

Mrs. Edith E. Warkentien, 88, of Niles, Michigan, formerly of LaPorte, IN. died Monday February 16, 2009 at Westwood of Niles in Niles, MI. She was born April 9, 1920 in LaPorte Indiana, the daughter of Thomas Edward Stickley and Alice D. Hale Stickley. Edith lived most of her life in the LaPorte, IN., area. Edith worked as a laborer for American Rubber, retiring in 1969, she also worked at a discount retail store, in retail management. She was a member of First Christian Church of LaPorte, Salvation Army, Moose Lodge. Edith was an avid bingo player and enjoyed doing arts and crafts at the nursing home. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Larry Poehlman of Cassopolis, MI, son, Billy Joe Connie Jensen of Three Rivers, MI, son, James Eugene Paula Geller of Sebastian, FL, Ten Grandchild, Thirteen Great-grandchildren . Edith was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Edward Stickley, mother, Alice D. Stickley, son, Chester Jensen, husband, Carl Jensen, husband, Kenneth Warkentien . Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, February 19, 2009 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm CST & Friday, February 20, 2009 from 12:00 pm, CST until time of service. Funeral service will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., February 20, 2009 at 1:00 PM CST with Rev. Everett Shattuck officiating.
