Edith Kelsey

Mrs. Edith E. Kelsey, age 81, of La Porte, Ind., died 5:40 PM Saturday, October 6, 2007, at Beverly LivingCenter-LaPorte in LaPorte, Ind. She was born August 28, 1926 in Michigan City, Ind. to the Benjamin Johnson and the late Beatrice George Johnson. She has lived in the LaPorte area all of her life. Mrs. Kelsey was employed by American Rubber for 10 years and retired in 1981. She had also worked at Plimpton Press and J.C. Penney's. She was a member of Springfield Twp. Vol. Fire Department Aux. Springfield Twp. PTA, involved with Woodman of the World, Michigan City Family Campers and AARP. She enjoyed Gardening and canning. She loved playing card games and table games like Undo with her great grandchildren. On February 2, 1946 in LaPorte, Ind. she married James Kelsey who preceded in death November 22, 1999. She is survived by her Two Daughters, Mrs. Patricia M. John Bowers of La Porte, Ind., Mrs. Dorine Y. Vern Thibideau of La Porte, Ind.; One Son, Mr. Robert A. Sandy Kelsey of Michigan City, Ind.; Six grandchildren John Bowers, Bruce Kelsey, Jennifer Kelsey - Brooks, Jeramy Bowers, Mat Thibideau, Mark Thibideau; Eleven great-grandchildren; Two Sisters, Mrs. Lorraine A. Ackerson of Kingsford Heights, Ind. Mrs. June Rose Wearp of Norwalk, Calif.; Two Brothers, Mr. Benjamin E. Johnson of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Wilbur A. Johnson of Topeka, Kan. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Brother, William L. Johnson; and Two Sister Vera M. Johnson and Margaret. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 9, 2007 and from 9:00 AM until time of the service at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 10, 2007, Rev. Dorothy Jones officiating. Interment will be at Patton Cemetery in La Porte, Ind.
