Edith Gourley May 28, 1930-April 28, 2019 Edith Gourley, 88, of La Porte, IN, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Settlers Place in La Porte, IN. She was born May 28, 1930 in Lexington, Kentucky, the daughter of Tyne Barnes and Ethyl (Hudson) Barnes. Edith enjoyed sewing and also crocheting and made many blankets and other items for friends and family. On January 16, 1969, in La Porte, Indiana, she married William L. Gourley who preceded in death March 15, 2018. She is survived by her three daughters, Wilma (William) Giesler of Rolling Prairie, IN, Roberta (Robert) Jensen of Alamogordo, NM, Evelyn Wheeler of Alamogordo, NM; five grandchildren, Michelle Benner of South Bend, IN, William Giesler, Jr., Kelly Jensen, Robert Jensen, Jr., Jenny Wheeler; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Edith was preceded in death by both her parents; son, James Robert Noel Jr.; son-in-law, Christopher Wheeler; six brothers and five sisters. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Saturday, May 4, 2019, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday May 4, 2019 at 11:00 am with Pastor Darrell Sheeley officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the LaPorte Co.
