Dr. Mary Victoria Frohne August 13, 1956-April 25, 2015 Dr. Mary Victoria Frohne, 58, departed this life Saturday, April 25, after a brief hospitalization in South Bend, Indiana She was born August 13, 1956, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Rev. and Mrs. Victor M. Frohne, currently of LaPorte. She was a graduate of Elmhurst (Ill.) College, and then earned a Master of Science degree at Purdue University at W. La Fayette, Ind. She then worked seven years at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Ill., as Engineering Physicist. Throughout her career she did volunteer work at Fermilab and Elmhurst College on various experiments. She continued her education by earning a Ph.D. degree in Atomic Physics at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan. Following this she taught physics at Western Illinois University (Macomb, Ill.), Benedictine University (Lisle, Ill.) and finally at Holy Cross College at Notre Dame, IN. She also supervised and updated certain physics laboratory classes at the University of Notre Dame. She was the granddaughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Victor P. Frohne of St. Paul United Church of Christ, LaPorte. She leaves to mourn, her parents, one brother Philip (Rita) of Hazelwood, Mo., sister Esther of Glendale Hts, Ill., two nephews, one great-niece; aunts and uncles: Dr. Vincent and Joan Frohne of Macomb, Ill., the Rev. Dr. Guy and Nalora Steele of Hingham, Mass., and various cousins and others. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Tuesday, April 28, 2015, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Wednesday, April 29, 2015, from 10:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday April 29, 2015 at 11:00 am. The service will be led by close family friend, the Rev. Dr. Charles E. Mize of Glenview, Ill. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. In Lieu of Flowers contributions maybe given to: Holy Cross College or the LaPorte Church of the Brethren..
