Douglas A. Snyder, 79, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Wednesday September 1, 2021 at his home, surrounded by family.

He was born March 1, 1942 in Albany, New York, the son of George Snyder and Hazel (Crouch) Snyder.

On November 30, 1996, in Laughlin, Nevada, he married Marilee Schultz Snyder, who survives.

He is also survived by his step-son, Jeffrey (Rhonda) Mussman of La Porte, IN; step-daughter, Sheri (Duane) Semon of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, Christina Eriks of La Porte, IN, Michelle (Luke) Nell of La Porte, IN, Matthew (Blair) Semon of Phoenix, AZ, Jack (Julia) Semon of Cumming, GA, Jenna Semon of Phoenix, AZ; several great grandchildren.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Doug served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war and retired as a truck driver from Phoenix Fuel, in 2003. In 2006 he moved to La Porte from Phoenix, Arizona. He was a member and held offices of the American Legion Hamon Gray post 83, The Polish Falcons nest 564 and the PRCU, La Porte. Doug was an avid Chicago White Sox and Phoenix Suns fan, enjoyed golfing, bowling, and casinos, especially Keno games. His passion was antique and classic cars and he owned a 1965 Olds convertible, which he lovingly called "Tuna".

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday September 7, 2021.  A life celebration will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Vale, officiating. Cremation will take place.

Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the American Legion Hamon Gray Post 83 and/or the Falcons of La Porte.
