Dorothy Layman

Mrs. Dorothy M. Wilson Layman, age 82, of LaPorte, IN, died Saturday, November 5, 2005, at LaPorte Hospital in LaPorte, IN. She was born November 27, 1922 in Adams Co. OH, to Wilkins Wilson and Vina Brumley Wilson, who has preceded. Also preceded is her husband, Mr. Richard F. Layman. On Feb. 7, 1953 in Barrington Hills, IL, she was married to Richard F. Layman, who preceded April 18, 1980. Mrs. Layman was employed by Downers Grove High School District as a High School Mathematics Teacher, District # 99, and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene LaPorte. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Former Church Pianoist, Church Librarian, House Parents for Orphanage, in West Union, Ohio. She enjoyed sewing, making clothes, she was a avid reader, and enjoyed writing. She earned a Summa Cum Laude status, under Graduate level, from Olivet Nazarene College, also a Summa Cum Laude status, Graduate level from the University of IL. Surviving is One Daughter, Mrs. Cynthia Rev. Daniel McDonald of La Porte, IN, One Son, Mr. Daniel Richard Layman of Chicago, IL, Two Sisters, Mrs. Mary Ellen Goodwin of Falls Church, Va, Mrs. Helen FrancesLouis Fleck of Evansville, IN, Mrs. Layman has Three grandchildren, Dee, Kyle, and Katie McDonald. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 8, 2005, and from 10:00 AM on Wed. 11/09/2005 until time of service. Funeral service will be at the First Church of the Nazarene of LaPorte at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 9, 2005 , with Rev. Gregory A. McDonald officiating. Interment will be at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM at Elmhurst, IL, on Wednesday, 11/09/2005.
