Dorothy L Miller September 6, 1928-June 30, 2017 Dorothy L Miller, 88, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Friday June 30, 2017 at the Hospice Franciscan Communities in Michigan City, IN. She was born September 6, 1928 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of George Knoll and Laura (Hensell) Knoll. Dorothy retired in 1991 from Howmet Corp. after 28 years of service. She was a member of the VFW #1130 Auxiliary. Her hobbies included reading, painting, drawing, ceramics, bird watching, and golfing. On March 21, 1953, in La Porte, IN, she married Richard E. Miller who preceded in death December 29, 1981. She is survived by her two daughters, Cathy (Ron) Alban, and Sherry Miller; two sons, Scott (Diane) Miller, Barry (Michelle) Miller; eight grandchildren, Kelly Aikens, Lisa Alban, Greg Alban, Kori Miller, Erik Miller, Nicole Miller, Emily Frazier, and Bradley Miller; three great grandchildren, Addison Frazier, Kaden Aikens, and Austin Aikens; two brothers, Donald Knoll, David Knoll; and a sister, Diane Jerndt. Dorothy was preceded in death by parents, husband; two brothers, Gerald Knoll, Melvin Knoll, and a sister, Jean Delano. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Friday, July 7, 2017, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 9:30 am until time of the service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday July 8, 2017 at 10:30 am with Pastor Robert Vale officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Swanson Activity Center for Older Adults .
