Dorothy Marie Johnson June 1, 1918-September 2, 2009 Mrs. Dorothy M. Johnson, 91, of La Porte, Indiana, died Wednesday September 2, 2009 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte. She was born June 1, 1918 in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of Clarence Decker and Joyce Hager Decker. Dorothy worked as a payroll & insurance clerk for Kingsley Furniture for thirty-five years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was very active in the church she was a member of the Altar Guild and Lady Aide Society. Dorothy was very positive and loved life she loved spending time with her family, especially with her daughter, granddaughters and great-grandchildren and she loved to cook for everyone. On June 20, 1937, in LaPorte, IN., she married Lawrence Johnson who preceded her in death November 23, 1992, after fifty-five years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Ann Becknell of LaPorte, IN; three granddaughters, Joy Jeffrey Becknell-Quinn of Merrillville, IN, Jennifer Chris Becknell-Welch of Bristol, IN. and Jamie Tony Becknell-Schaufler of Middlebury, IN; twelve great grandchildren; brother, Jack A. Decker of LaPorte, IN; sister, Lois Craft of Crawfordsville, IN and two nieces and one nephew. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Rena Decker and one brother, Clarence Decker, Jr. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 5, 2009 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Saturday September 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joseph Loftis officiating. Interment will follow at the Door Village Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
