Dorothy Geyer August 9, 1923-October 17, 2013 Mrs. Dorothy Geyer, 90, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday October 17, 2013 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. She was born August 9, 1923 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Arthur C. Thode and Alma (Mann) Thode. Dorothy was a Girl Scout leader from 1965 to 1969. She was very involved with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her flower garden, which was designed by her late brother, Norman Thode. On October 3, 1942, in Michigan City, IN, she married Walter F Geyer who preceded her in death September 7, 1989. She is survived by her daughter - Cathy (William) Schadowsky of La Porte, IN; son - Gary (Tina) Geyer of La Porte, IN; grandaughter - Christine (Josh) Griffin of La Porte, IN; 3 great-grandchildren - Jessica Irk of Norfolk, VA, Jacob Perkins of La Porte, IN, Jared Perkins of La Porte, IN. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Gladys Spencer, six brothers, Edward, Walter, Norman, Arthur, Clarence, and John Thode. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
