Dorothy L Elkins January 31, 1941-July 19, 2013 Dorothy L. "Miss Dot" Elkins , 72, of La Porte, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on Friday July 19, 2013 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. She was born January 31, 1941 in South Point, Ohio, the daughter of James McClure and Myrtle (Bayes) McClure. Dorothy was a cosmetology instructor for Classic College of Beauty in LaPorte, retiring in 2011. She was a member of Rolling Prairie Church of God Rolling Prairie, IN . Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family. On September 19, 1959, in South Point, OH, she married Vernon Elkins who preceded her in death May 5, 1990. She is survived by her 2 sons - Steve Elkins of La Porte, IN, Randy (Jill) Elkins of La Porte, IN; 2 daughters - Cindy Elkins of La Porte, IN, Lisa Jones of La Porte, IN; nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren; 2 brothers - Fred (Annie) McClure of South Point, OH, James McClure of Baton Rouge, LA; 3 sisters - Patty (Richard) Nelson of South Point, IN, Ruth Wilson of LasVegas, NV, and Faye Davidson of Phoenix, AZ; 2 sister-in-laws - Eleanor McClure, Brenda Elkins; 2 brother-in-laws - Charles Suiter, Jack Griffith. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, four sisters, and three brothers. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Tuesday, July 23, 2013 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 10:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday July 24, 2013 at 11:00 am with Pastor Kathy Evans officiating. Interment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 130 Redcoach Mishawaka, IN 46545.
