Mrs. Dorothea L. Clendenen, 91, of Upper Arlington, Ohio, formerly of the LaPorte Co. area died Wednesday June 2, 2010, peacefully in her sleep in the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Upper Arlington, Ohio. She was born June 25, 1918 in LaCrosse, Indiana, the daughter of Lloyd A. Burden and Laura M. Krohn Burden. Dorothea had lived in LaPorte, the state of Michigan and Ohio. Dorothea was a homemaker and ran her family farm of which she was very proud. She assisted her husband in his real estate business, built homes and sold vacation homes in their developments. She was a member of a home extension club. On December 31, 1941, in Tulsa, OK, she married Daniel C. Clendenen who preceded her in death November 21, 1984. She is survived by her daughter - Dllona Clendenen Shortle; son-in-law H. Dickson Shortle; daughter-in-law Odette L. Jully Clendenen; two grandchildren - Michelle L. James Clendenen Cole, Harra Walter Shortle Windsor; five great-grandchildren, Gina Whitt, Brockton Cole, Lillian Pearl Cole, H. Dickson Windsor, and Walter Windsor; one sister - Ionia Burden Rice; cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews including the children of her sisters whom she loved especially dearly, Craig, Bob, Marilyn, Kathy, David, Karen and Arleen. Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Sylva A. Burden Sheriff, Ruth A. Burden Disner and her beloved niece Lynda. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 12:00 pm, until time of service. A memorial service will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday June 19, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Ransom Ebersole officiating.
