Doris Hess

Mrs. Doris L. Wilkinson Hess, age 93, of LaPorte, Ind., died 7:00 AM Monday, April 23, 2007, at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. She was born January 25, 1914 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John Peterson and the late Amanda Ekdahl Peterson. She has lived in the LaPorte area since 1934. Mrs. Hess was employed by Diamond Tool and Die and Teeter Tool & Die for 19 years and retired in 1985 and was a member of First Baptist Church of LaPorte. She was also a member of Friendly Neighbors Extension Club. She grew up in Harbert, Michigan & graduated from New Troy High School, she later attended Chicago College of Commerce & LaPorte Business School. Doris was a sports fan & also an avid gardener, and loved to dance. On June 28, 1934 in LaPorte, Ind. she married Evans Wilkinson. She remarried Mary 18, 1985 in LaPorte, Ind. to Donald Hess who preceded in death on October 3, 1997. She is also survived by her Daughters, Donna Richardson of Schoolcraft, Mich.; Three Sons, Robert Wilkinson of Henderson, Nev., Bruce Dorothy Todd Wilkinson of La Porte, Ind., Wayne Val Wilkinson of Portage, Mich.; Seven grandchildren, David Richardson, Daniel Richardson, Jane Smith, Chelsea Wilkinson, Bill Wilkinson, Wendy Lyster, Eric Wilkinson; Seven great-grandchildren and One Step-Daughter Adrienne Eldridge of New Buffalo, Mich. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, April 27, 2007. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Friday, April 27, 2007, Rev David Riffel officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Three Oaks, Mich.
