Dora Margaret Carper, 90, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024 at her home, with her daughter at her side.

She was born June 19, 1934 in Crumstown, Indiana, the daughter of Clem Worthington and Inamae (Miller) Worthington.

A lifelong resident of the area, Dora graduated from Mill Creek High School and went on to a career in food service. She devoted many years to the La Porte County Schools and later worked as a dietary aid for La Porte hospitals for 13 years before her retirement in 2000. On June 14, 1956, in Mill Creek, she married Leon L. Carper who preceded her in death December 19, 1998. Dora was a dedicated community member and offered her time as a Boy Scout den mother, crafting young lives through her guidance. Her love for watching soap operas and spending quality time with friends over coffee brought her much enjoyment. Dora enjoyed family events, especially during the holiday seasons of Christmas and Thanksgiving. She loved the gatherings, often alternating hosting duties with her sisters, where cherished memories were made amidst laughter and love. She will be missed by all who knew her. 

She is survived by her two daughters, Sherie Lundquist of St. Petersburg, FL and Lisa Carper of La Porte, IN; brother, Samuel (Pat Endicott) Carper of Mishawaka, IN; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband of 42 years, Dora was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Hazel May Snyder, Sandy Lott, Mona Worthington, Anna Lou Meneffe, and four brothers, Robert Worthington, Ray Worthington, David Worthington, Thomas Worthington.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. The family has selected cremation.
