Donald L. Simpson August 24, 1949-July 30, 2010 Mr. Donald L. Simpson, 60, of La Porte, Indiana, died Friday July 30, 2010 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in La Porte, IN. He was born August 24, 1949 in Wellsville, New York, the son of Charles W. Simpson and Mabel Wilcox Simpson. Donald was a Captain in the Salvation Army for 3 years before moving to La Porte in 1973. He worked as a Truck Driver for over 30 years and retired from Lay Trucking Co. in 2002. He was a member of LaGrange, IN Jaycees and the Scipio Township Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and had a good time making people laugh. On June 29, 1974, in La Porte, IN, he married Deborah S. Stearns Simpson who survives. He is also survived by his sister - Sue Dick Evans of Ft. Wayne, IN; brother - Wesley Sharon Simpson of LaGrange, IN; many nieces and nephews; and he had the honorary title of Dad with many young adults in the Northern Indiana area. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Charles Simpson. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm & 6:00 - 8:00 pm & Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from 10:00 am until time of the service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday August 4, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Cremation will follow.
