Mr. Donald Duane Pavey, age 63, of La Porte, Ind., died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at LaPorte Hospital after a long battle with cancer which he fought with dignity, courage, wisdom, and understanding. He was born August 5, 1944 in Sullivan, Ind. to the late Clyde Pavey and Wanda Webb Pavey. Mr. Pavey was a self-made man. At an early age, he found his way that would lead him into a career that he would spend helping others. He graduated from Westville High School in 1962, Purdue University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, from Indiana State University in 1972 with a Master of Science degree and from Columbia Pacific University in 1984 where he received a Doctor of Philosophy. His career started at Beatty Memorial Hospital, working his way through college and helped on the family farm. He was currently employed at the Community Healing Center of Niles Mich. as a teacher counselor, advisor healer and friend. He was a man of many talents, he loved all sports but his favorites were hunting and fishing with his son. He was very competitive when playing sports, and he loved to watch his son Chad play soccer. He is survived by his Son Mr. Chad Pavey of De Soto, Ill.; his Mother Mrs. Wanda Pavey of LaPorte, Ind. and several other relatives. He is preceded in death by his father Clyde Pavey. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 18, 2008. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 19, 2008, Rev. Ian Williams officiating. Interment will be at Pinhook Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.
