Mr. Donald L. Keehn, age 81, of 0006 E. CR 400 N., La Porte, Ind., died Sunday, September 11, 2005, at 12:50 a.m. at the LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. He was born July 21, 1924 in Wanatah, IN. to the late Edward Keehn and the late Anna Stolte Keehn, and has lived in the LaPorte area all of his life. Mr. Keehn was employed by Berkel Corp. for 47 years and retired in 1988. While at Berkel he served as a union steward for the Machinist's Union. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He entered military service on March 11, 1943 serving as a staff sergeant in the 893 Tank Destroyer Battalion and was wounded in action in Germany on March 12, 1945. He was awarded a Purple Heart, 2 Bronze Stars and various decorations and citations. He was a Member of VFW Post 9423 of Rolling Prairie. On Oct. 23, 1943 in LaPorte IN. he married Grace Sampson who preceded him in death on April 16, 1971. He remarried on Oct. 24, 1980 in LaPorte to Irma Friedrich Shelby who survives. He is also survived by Two Daughters, Mrs. Judy Brian Bunge of La Porte, Ind., Mrs. Bonnie Steve Snider of Park Ridge, Ill.; One Son, Mr. Michael Connie Keehn of Michigan City, Ind.; Four Grandchildren, Brad Alison Martin of Indianapolis, Leanne George Hayes of LaPorte, IN., Elaine Erne and Angela Erne of Park Ridge, IL.; Two Great Grandchildren, Alec Martin and Paiton Martin of Indianapolis; Four Step Grandchildren, Alex Bunge of Michigan City, Erich Bunge of South Bend IN, Russell Caddo of LaPorte, IN, and Matt Caddo of New Buffalo, MI.; Two Step Great Grandchildren; Hanna Hayes of North Carolina and Cierra Smith of LaPorte, IN.; and One Sister, Katherine James Hoeppner of LaPorte, IN. He was also preceded in death by Two Brothers, Edward Robert Keehn, Kenneth Leroy Keehn; and One Sister, Evelyn Marie Keehn. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, September 13, 2005 and 9:00 AM Wednesday until time of the service at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral service will be at Trinity Lutheran Church at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 14, 2005 , Vicar Arthur Schwenk and Rev. Carl Fitchett officiating. Interment will be at Patton Cemetery in La Porte, Ind., where VFW Post 9423 will conduct Military Services. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church of LaPorte. IN.
