Dolores Mae Allen

Dolores Allen, 90, of Fish Lake, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at her home, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born January 10, 1934 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Harry Rheinholtz Sr. and Elsie (Schweder) Rheinholtz.
A lifelong resident of the area, Dolores graduated from Stillwell High School, class of 1952. On November 7, 1953, at Salem Chapel in Salem Heights, she married the love of her life, John R. Allen Sr. Delores worked several years at American Rubber and retired in 1999 after over 20 years at Howmet. She attended Assembly of God for many years and was a member of the Pioneer Land Quilters. Over the years, Dolores bowled and golfed in many leagues and tournaments. She loved to travel, visiting her children in Japan and Hawaii as well as taking bus trips with her brothers and sisters. She loved tending to her flower garden and lawn, zipping around on her zero turn mower. She looked forward to pontoon boat rides on the lake, family reunions, and going to the 4th of July parade. Her family, especially her grandchildren, were precious to her, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by one daughter, Vicki (Ed) Smith of Chesapeake, VA; and three sons, John R Allen, Jr. of Fish Lake, IN; Bruce (Dianne) Allen of La Porte, IN; Guy (Christine) Allen of Fish Lake, IN; son-in-law, Norman Lott of La Porte, IN; sister, Norma Zeimet of Salem Heights, IN; brother, Raymond (Sharron) Rheinholtz, Sr. of Stillwell, IN; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 1992; children, Marta C. Lott, Tamara G. Corley, and infant son Douglas Allen; daughter-in-law, Mary Florence Allen; grandsons, Edward W. Smith and Travis Heaps; and great grand children, Maddie and Noah. Also by her sisters, Evelyn Shuta, Marge Hansen, Marcille Malone; and brother, Harry Rheinholtz, Jr..
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.and Friday April 5, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00, with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Luncheon will be served after the interment.
