Devetta Walkowiak

Devetta C. Walkowiak October 14, 1921-May 20, 2015 Mrs. Devetta C. Walkowiak, 93, of Michigan City, Indiana, joined the loving arms of the Lord and her husband Joseph on Wednesday May 20, 2015 at Franciscan St. Anthony Hospice in Michigan City, IN. She was born October 14, 1921 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest Gehrke and Myrtle (Hayden) Gehrke. Devetta joined the Navy in 1944, serving as a secretary, she was honorably discharged in 1946. Devetta married Joseph Walkowiak in September of 1954. She is survived by her two sons, Michael Walkowiak of Michigan City, IN, and James (Jane) Walkowiak of Salem, MA; three grandchildren and one sister, Vivian of Florida. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. There will be no visitation or no services. Cremation will take place.
