David Whitcomb

Mr. David A. Whitcomb, 73 of 5777 W. Joliet Road LaPorte, Indiana died Monday, November 1, 2004 at 8:45a.m. At his residence. He was born on August 25, 1931 in Frankford, IN to Thurman and Blanche Mann Whitcomb who has proceeded. Mr. Whitcomb was a long-time resident of Porter Co. On September 29, 1951 in Valparaiso, IN he married Esther Bair, who survives. Mr. Whitcomb was an Owner of A-1 Transmission shop in Trinidad, Co. for 18 years. Mr. Whitcomb was a Professional Race car driver on the USAC racing circuit for over 10 years, during that time he served on the Board of Directors of USAC, former Porter County Sheriff Dept. Mechanic. Surviving are two son?s Mr. Glen Barbara Whitcomb of Easley, SC, a Mr. Zane Janet Whitcomb of Westville, IN, Three daughter?s Mrs. Karen Jim Davis of Pueblo, CO, A Mrs. Abby Steve Appelt of Carmel, IN, and Gay Whitcomb of Lakeland, FL a sister Mrs. Delores Yergler of Hanna, IN, and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be a Memorial Service at the First Presbyterian Church of Valparaiso, IN on Thursday November 4, 2004 at 4:00p.m. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date.
