Mr. David L. Cooper, 68, of LaPorte, Indiana, died Monday March 23, 2009 at his home, in LaPorte, IN. He was born September 23, 1940 in Grant County, Indiana, the son of Lee Cooper and Phoebe Hendley Cooper. living in LaPorte, IN., since 1964, coming from Muncie, IN. David worked as a chemistry and government teacher for LaPorte Community School Corp. for thirty-one years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of LaPorte Missionary Church LaPorte Federaton of Teachers-Branch of American Federation of Teachers, Hoosier Science Teachers Assoc., Indiana Chemistry Teachers Assoc., A.C.A. Academic Coaches Assoc., Past President of Indiana Federation of Teachers, Indiana Professional Standards Board Representing Science Teachers. A community volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Education Foundation.. On June 24, 1961, in Hillsboro, WI, he married Virginia "Gini" Budde, who preceded him in death on December 31, 2006. He is survived by his daughter; Cama L. McIntosh of LaPorte, IN.; son Cade D, Rachel Cooper of La Porte, IN.; four grandchildren, Chelsey McIntosh, Ashley McIntosh, Jacob Cooper, Caiya Cooper; one sister, Martha Brane of VanBuren, IN.; Sister-in-law, Kathryn Cooper of Jonesboro, IN, David was preceded in death by his father, Lee Cooper, mother, Phoebe Cooper, wife, Virginia "Gini" Cooper Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Friday, March 27, 2009 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and from 9:00 am Saturday, March 28, 2009, until time of service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 10:30 AM with Carl Galloway, officiating. Burial of ashes will follow in the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
