Darrell Hux

Mr. Darrell W. Hux , 59, of Hamlet, Indiana, died Monday November 2, 2009 at LaPorte Hospital in LaPorte. He was born May 31, 1950 in LaPorte, Indiana, the son of Billy Hux and Rosemary Carr Hux. Darrell worked as a crane operator for NIPSCO for thirty-five years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of Church of Christ Church, Sons of American Legion, American Legion Post #434 and was a Legion Rider. He loved riding his motorcycle, enjoyed camping and golf. Darrell enjoyed giving his grandchildren rides in the golf cart and spending time with family especially his grandchildren. On December 7, 1968, in LaPorte, IN, he married Linda Housley Hux who survives. He is also survived by his two sons Patrick Hux of Kingsford Heights, IN, Greg Hux of Kingsford Heights, IN; two grandchildren, Nicholas Hux of South Bend, IN, Emma Hux of South Bend, IN; three sisters Susan Tom Knoll of Fish Lake, IN, Debbie Tom Fisher of LaPorte, IN, Kay Dave Harris of Lafayette, IN. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Raymond & Vivian Hux, and Blanch & Nathan Carr. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 9:30 am until time of services. Services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, November 5, 2009 with Curtis Southwood, officiating. Interment will follow at the Tracy Cemetery Hamlet, Indiana.
