Darma Young

Mrs. Darma E. Henke Young, age 83, of La Porte, Ind., died 9:35 am, Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at her residence in La Porte, Ind. She was born August 25, 1925 in La Porte, IN to the late Henry F. Henke and the late Carmen M. Rodriguez Henke. She lived most of her life in the La Porte area. Mrs. Young was a homemaker. She was a dedicated republican. She hosted many Republican affairs for local and state government candidates, including Gov. Bowen. Darma was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was involved in many Republican affairs. She enjoyed being an entertainer. She had a wonderful group of friends, "The Golden Girls" who enjoyed many lunches together. She taught the family many good qaulities - learn, love, and laugh often. She was greatly appreciated for all she has given and done for others. She will be greatly missed by all and her influence will echo throughout generations. She was married in La Porte, IN. to Dr. Edward Young who preceded her in death on September 6, 1990. She is survived by her Daughter, Claudia Chris Schultz of La Porte, Ind.; Two Sons, David Darlene Young of Stuart, Fla., Charles Wanda Young of La Porte, Ind.; Ten Grandchildren, Monica Don Francis, Coco Erik Penfold, Anna Ortiz, Michelle Ryan Moore, Neil Jan Young, Grant Young, Vincent Young, Amy Dan Thronberry, Chris Story, Gail Phillips; and Four-teen Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, One Son Bobbie Young. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. A Graveside Service will be held at Pine Lake Cemetery at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 23, 2008 . Interment will follow.
