Dan Wallis Sr.

Mr. Dan L. Wallis, Sr., 72, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday May 22, 2010 at La Porte Hospital in La Porte. He was born May 5, 1938 in Springfield Twp., LaPorte Co., Indiana, the son of Deforest Wallis and Mabel Peo Wallis-Starzyk. Dan worked as an Iron worker for Iron Workers Local #292. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #58 of South Bend, IN; Fraternal Order of Police; Indiana Sheriff Association and Airplane Owners and Pilots Assoc. Dan loved flying his plane, he had owned several during the years. He was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed old cars. Dan had owned a saw mill in LaPorte for several years. He is survived by his five daughters - Anna Wallis of Kissimmee, FL, Laura Howard of Michigan City, IN, Mary Evans of Michigan City, IN, Brenda Lawrence of LaPorte, IN, Julie Lindquist of La Porte, IN; eight grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren; two sisters - Carol Mullins of Michigan City, IN, and Linda Dean of Sebring, FL. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Dan Wallis, Jr., and brother, Jack Wallis. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 4:00, until time of services. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday May 27, 2010 at 7:00 pm. Burial of ashes will be held at a later date in the Springville Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
