Cora Bailey Metcalf December 13, 1915-May 31, 2015 Cora Bailey Metcalf, 99, of Whiteland, Indiana, (formerly of LaPorte) died Sunday May 31, 2015 at Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin, IN. She was born December 13, 1915 in Starke Co, Indiana, the daughter of Harry Leslie Bailey and Nora Eveline (Melvin) Bailey. Cora had worked 27 1/2 years for Howmet, retiring in 1985. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of LaPorte, Past Matron Eastern Star, LaPorte Chapter #280, High Worthy Priestess WSI Covenant Shrine, and had been a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. On July 31, 1937, in Michigan City, IN, she married Chester Metcalf who preceded her in death September 10, 2003. Her first marriage was in 1932 in Crown Point, IN. to Clarence Clauson, who preceded her in death November 29, 1935. She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Robert) Dhondt of Greenwood, IN; two sons, Arthur (Jan) Clauson of Dallas, TX, and Wayne (Linda) Metcalf of Bridgeton, MO; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren, and eleven great great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lula Lounsberry of MI. Cora was preceded in death by her parents, second husband, Chester Metcalf, first husband, Clarence Clauson; five brothers, Samuel, Russell, Allen, Harry, and Howard; five sisters, Esther, Edna, Leah, Dorothy, and Irene. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Friday, June 5, 2015, from 11:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday June 5, 2015 at 12:00 pm with a grandson David Clauson officiating.
