Mr. Clifford Ray Vance, 62, of La Porte, Indiana, died Friday March 6, 2009 at his home in La Porte. He was born March 27, 1946 in Coal Branch, West Virginia, the son of William Herbert Poppy Vance and Eliza Allen Vance. He has lived in the LaPorte area for 47 years coming from Coal Branch, West Virginia Clifford worked as a Supervisor for Casteel Services. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of LaPorte and the Swanson Senior Center. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved gardening, fishing and playing cards. On March 23, 1991, in La Porte, IN, he married Elizabeth Meisner who survives. He is also survived by his four sons, Clifford Rayna Vance, Randy Vance, Rodney Jenni Vance, Kevin Vance all of La Porte, IN, one daughter, Laura Harshman of Remington, IN, one step-son, Mark Cherilyn Church of Phoenix, AZ, one step-daughter, Katrina Pat Cooper of Bay Town, TX, 13 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, three brothers, Elder Kenneth Margaret Vance of Logan WV, Elder Elbert Goldie Vance of Waverly OH, Lloyd Marilyn Vance of Sebring FL, four sisters, Margie Marcum of York SC, Judy Charles Hayter of Pineville, TN, Mary Gean Rodger LaMaster of Lake Wales, FL and Wanda Mae Vance. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind.
