Mr. Clifford "Jerry" Jarrett, age 80, of La Porte, Ind., died 12:22 PM Friday, September 1, 2006, at his residence in La Porte, Ind. after a long illness, he was cared for by his devoted wife. He was born February 11, 1926 in Grange Ark. to the late Elmer Jarrett and the late Chloe McLeod Jarrett. He has lived in the LaPorte area for 16 years coming from Brownsburg, Ind. Mr. Jarrett was employed by Town of Brownsburg, Indiana as a utility worker. He was a Veteran of US Army and Navy, during WW II and Korea. He was a member of American Legion Post #83 of LaPorte and was a founding member of the V.F.W. in Rolling Prairie, IN. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, rabbit hunting, playing pool and enjoyed time with his family and friends. On May 13, 1950 in Peach Orchard, Missouri he married Verta Matthews who survives. He is also survived by his Three Daughters, Debbie Esposito of La Porte, Ind., JoAnn Michael Wallace of Mesa, Ariz., Vicky Jarrett of Camby, Ind.; Four grandchildren Melissa Wallace, Amanda Wallace, Colton Esposito, Brittany Esposito; Two great-grandchildren; Two Brothers, Mr. Charles Jarrett of La Porte, Ind., and Mr. Darrel Jarrett of Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents and Two Brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, September 5, 2006 and from 9:30 AM Wednesday until time of the service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 6, 2006, Mr. Roy McNeal, Celebrant officiating. Interment will be at Patton Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.
